Surrounded by mountains, “beautiful” is the best word to describe boating on Lake Toxaway. The serenity and beauty of the lake make this a wonderful place to build memories with one’s family and friends. Unlike many lakes, Lake Toxaway is not used to generate electricity or as a reservoir, so the water level remains constant at 3,010 feet above sea level. The fact that the lake is private minimizes traffic: other than the Fourth of July, there are seldom more than a dozen boats within sight on the lake. And the Fourth of July is indeed a don’t-miss day on the water, with all the families and friends just watching or participating in water sports.
Boating on Lake Toxaway is the best! We have had a home on Lake Toxaway for 24 years, and I have no idea how many hours we have spent just cruising around the lake. I can confirm that every cruise has been a pleasure. Having boated in many locations in the world, there are days that I get flashbacks of the beauty of cruising the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest, the Finger Lakes of upstate New York, or Lake Como in Italy.
