Lake Toxaway has a colorful and storied history, beginning in the late 1800s with plans for a summer retreat that would draw many of America’s most rich and famous families. That dream was indeed realized, but then slowly faded away after a massive rainstorm caused the dam to fail in 1916.
Then in the 1960s, the dam was rebuilt, a country club was established, and homes began to spring up throughout the estates as the property became more and more popular.
Today, Lake Toxaway is a great place to live, vacation, or just visit, with a setting, amenities, and a community spirit that truly set it apart.
